Fps is proud to present the first lightweight piston with a carbon fiber-reinforced technopolymer body and a full metal rack, featuring the patented ZERO-SHOCK damping system 100% Made in Italy.

This patented system by Fps reduces the stress transmitted by the rack to the piston body, making the assembly enormously more resistant and reliable than a normal piston. For the body material, a technopolymer reinforced with carbon fiber and a small percentage of elastomer was developed, providing high mechanical performance and a very low friction coefficient.
The rack was manufactured using MIM (Metal Injection Molding) technology, as this production process guarantees dimensional precision and robustness practically equal to those of machining from solid.
The rack comes with the second tooth missing and the third already lowered by 0.3 millimeters. This configuration prepares the piston for a correct angle of engagement (AOE) and makes it suitable for high rates of fire.
The type of metal injected is SAE 4650, surface treated with HRC38-42° hardening, which is currently considered the best material on the market for this type of use.
The sliding guides are designed to minimize friction and retain lubricant for a long period of time.
The rack seat is off-center to facilitate the meshing between the piston teeth and the sector gear teeth.
Longitudinal reinforcements on the sides of the teeth increase the piston's robustness and prevent contact between the rack and the inner wall of the cylinder.
Special ribs reduce the contact surface between the spring and the inner part of the piston body, consequently reducing friction between metal and technopolymer during contraction and extension due to the firing cycle.
