Lithium-ion polymer (LiPo) packs are successors to the well-known lithium-ion (LiIon) packs. The main advantage of LiPo batteries is undoubtedly the capacity-to-size ratio. They are very small while maintaining very high current efficiency, which allows choosing the right pack for virtually every AEG replica. They have no memory effect. They can be charged very often without being discharged first. Frequent recharging is advantageous for this type of battery.
Remember not to discharge the LiPo pack below 3 V per cell and not to overcharge it above 4.2 V per cell. Another advantage of LiPo packs is the low self-discharge rate. The unused monthly pack loses about 3-5% of energy. You need to keep an eye on the pack, because during very long storage, discharge below the minimum allowed value (3 V per cell) and irreversible chemical reactions can lead to the deterioration of the pack's properties, including permanent damage and, in extreme cases, ignition. An unused LiPo pack should be about 70% charged.
If used correctly, the lifespan of LiPo packs is on average 500-700 cycles. An important aspect is the temperature at which LiPo packs can operate. Unlike other batteries, LiPo cells can withstand low temperatures well. However, they should be charged at room temperature. To maintain the good condition of LiPo batteries, they must be balanced during charging using the service plug, which most LiPo packs have (a good LiPo charger has a built-in balancer).
